Alexia's 22nd birthday

Today is Alexia's 22nd B-day. Twenty-two years ago this morning the Doctor told me she would never walk and mostly likely be blind and deaf, if she lived passed 3-years-old. She is amazing, in the middle of her 4th year in college. Very bright, very social and a sweetheart. She has changed my life and made me what I am today.

Please post a Bithday greeting here as she loves to read this Blog and it would be a great surprise!

Dear Alexia,

I am a day late; however, the sentiment is no less sincere!

May it be your best year yet, full of wonder and joy! Your Mom posted on CHD Families that it was your birthday and I couldn't wait to tell you how proud of you I am! I hope the entire weekend has been full of beautiful celebrations. You deserve them all and more!

Valerie,
Wow Alexis is 22? I can hardly believe it. Wish her a happy birthday
from Andrew and I. It's almost over though I see. I couldn't figure out
how to post on her blog. Could be the late hour.

Valerie - thank you for your post about your daughter! Happy Birthday to
Alexia, and many many more!

I just brought my adoptive daughter home from India last month - she is two
years old, has a complex set of defects including small ASD, large VSD,
pulmonary atresia, and others. She received the hemi-fontan February of this
year, and I am hopeful that we won't need surgery for awhile. She's doing great,
and meeting almost all of her developmental milestones with the exception of
verbal skills, since she's learning a new language :)

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!
Patricia

Hi Valerie,

What you wrote brought me to tears & give me so much hope. . .that you were told Alexia wouldn't see her third birthday & she'll soon be 22!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALEXIA!! You are a miracle. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). That is my favorite passage in the whole Bible. If you have time to read verses 13-16, they are incredible and really gave me hope & insight when I was pregnant with J.T. knowing that he faced so many uncertainties.

Thank you for posting the photo for J.T.'s birthday. Sadly we will not have a huge celebration since he can't be exposed, but will make up for it in May & do a combined party with him & big sister Taryl (turning 4).

Once RSV season is over (end of April) we will look forward to attending meetings and connecting with the group again in person. We will just look forward to getting out anywhere!! It's hard being home but I will do anything for my precious boy.

That book looks awesome & I can't wait to buy it and dive in.

blessings,
Karen
