Bloggy Giveaways Time and last nights dinner

It is that time again and I am excited to participate in the Quarterly Bloggy Giveaways! I will be giving away, to a Random Winner, a jar of my "famous" candied walnuts and a Fall Leaf bracelet. All you have to do is leave a comment about your favorite Fall tradition. Winner will be announced on Saturday, November 1st.

Good Luck!

I wanted to share a dinner I made last night. We recently were gifted a twice monthly delivery of farm fresh organic veggies and fruit (can you say heaven?!). Friday, early morning, we received as huge box including kale and butternut squash. So tonight we had roasted butternut with shallots and fresh rosemary, sauteed, garlic kale and balsamic porkchops with carmalized onions, yummy!

Being in Florida it is difficult to really have a "fall"...so the best part is having one cold snap day where the windows can be opened and make a pot of chili...like today.

My absolute favorite fall tradition (other than Thanksgiving ones) is when we take the kids to a VERY small pumpkin patch near my mom's house. They don't have hayrides or corn mazes or anything fancy like that, it is just a bunch of pumpkins priced & separated by size. The kids get to pick one big pumpkin (has to be less than 6 dollars) and then they go to the 50cent table and pick a few little ones...When you go up to pay, the little old lady always lets the kids pick a special pumpkin for free, even though they already have pumpkins, there is something magical about the one that they get for free lol. We have went there for the past 11 yrs (since my oldest was 2) and it is a tradition I would miss as much as carving the said pumpkins & eating the roasted seeds!

I don't know if it would be considered a tradition...but we just get everything ready for the first snowfall...rake and play in the leaves, clean up the garden and process veggies, put away hoses and get out snow shovels...once it is all done it can snow.
